Controller

The controller is Thilo Feierabend. Contact: justday.app@gmx.de.

The full postal address and provider details are available in the legal notice.

02

Privacy at a glance

  • JustDay operates no account or content server of its own. Planning content is initially stored and processed on the device.
  • iCloud sync, Apple Calendar/Reminders access, speech, camera, notifications and task alarms are optional and used only after your choice or system permission.
  • Apple Foundation Models, Vision, PDFKit and local recognition rules work on device. Apple’s classic speech recognition may transfer audio to Apple.
  • JustDay contains no advertising, analytics SDKs or cross-app tracking.
03

App data and local storage

Depending on use, JustDay processes profiles and colors; events, drafts, tasks and reminders with title, date, time, duration, place, notes, recurrence, status and original input; text from typing, sharing, files, PDFs, photos and speech; Just Guide messages and answers; day and week plans; habit and learning values; Siri/Shortcut input; settings, local activity entries and support diagnostics.

This data initially stays in the protected app area. An App Group store connects the main app, Share Extension, widgets and Live Activities. Depending on iOS settings, upcoming titles, times and tasks may therefore be visible on the Home Screen, Lock Screen or Dynamic Island.

Free text may include information about other people or sensitive matters. JustDay does not specifically request such data; only process content you are entitled to use.

04

Optional iCloud sync

iCloud is off by default. Once enabled, JustDay syncs profiles, profile colors, the active area, saved events and drafts, tasks and task drafts, plus technical modification and deletion markers through your Apple Account’s private CloudKit database.

A compact personal learning profile is synced through Apple’s private iCloud key-value store. It contains confirmed duration, place, time-of-day and title preferences, broad activity categories and aggregated acceptance/rejection values—not full Just Guide conversations as a training corpus.

Apple is the recipient and service provider. Learn more from iCloud data security and the Apple Privacy Policy. Turning sync off stops future transfers but does not automatically delete existing cloud data. “Reset app” initiates deletion of JustDay cloud data; uninstalling alone may not.

05

Recognition, Just Guide and planning

JustDay locally distinguishes events, tasks and free time, creates reviewable suggestions, finds conflicts and gaps, and can prepare day or week plans. Clear commands use local rules. Where available, Apple’s on-device SystemLanguageModel from the Foundation Models framework supports language understanding, wording and planning assistance.

For an answer, Just Guide may process a bounded excerpt of the active profile and recent conversation. Prompts are not sent to a JustDay server. Results may be incomplete or wrong, so structural or ambiguous changes require a selection or confirmation.

JustDay may derive patterns locally from entries you actually saved. Habit suggestions are never saved automatically. It makes no automated decision with legal or similarly significant effect.

06

Apple Calendar, Reminders and birthdays

After full EventKit permission, JustDay can read the Apple calendars and reminder lists you select. Imported fields can include title, times, all-day status, due date, place, notes, recurrence, alarms, completion status and technical Apple identifiers. Birthdays are imported as calendar events; JustDay requests no separate Contacts permission for this.

For export, JustDay writes its own events to the “JustDay” calendar and its own tasks to the “JustDay” list. Import, export and both automatic directions can be enabled separately. Automatic options start off. Technical mappings help later runs update rather than duplicate and reconcile permitted deletions.

The selected Apple account may be local, iCloud, Google, Exchange or another provider configured in iOS. That provider then processes data under its own terms. Imported content becomes JustDay data and may also sync to iCloud if enabled. Permissions can be revoked in iOS; exported entries remain until deleted at their destination.

07

Photos, files, sharing, microphone and speech

Only after your selection does JustDay process camera captures, photos, PDFs and supported text, mail, calendar or spreadsheet files. Vision, PDFKit and system services extract content locally. JustDay normally stores the extracted text and resulting planning data, not the source file. The Share Extension receives only content you explicitly send through the Share Sheet.

The microphone is used only during dictation and after iOS permission. JustDay uses SFSpeechRecognizer; audio and transcription may be transferred to Apple servers under Apple’s rules. Read-aloud uses Apple speech synthesis and creates no JustDay recording.

08

Notifications, alarms, Siri and Spotlight

Events and tasks can be scheduled as local iOS notifications. On supported systems, JustDay can create AlarmKit alarms with a Live Activity for tasks where you explicitly enable them. Title, time and controls may then appear on the Lock Screen or Dynamic Island. You control permissions and previews in iOS.

App Intents, Siri and Shortcuts can open JustDay, create suggestions and provide local day briefings. Siri handles voice requests first under your Apple settings. From iOS 18, JustDay indexes a limited current selection of upcoming events and tasks in Core Spotlight so titles, dates and times may appear in system search. Siri and Spotlight suggestions can be controlled in iOS.

09

Places, map preview and Apple Maps

For longer place input, JustDay may send the search text to Apple through MKLocalSearch to retrieve a matching place, coordinates and map preview. The event continues to store the place text you entered. Opening in Apple Maps hands the selected place to that app.

JustDay requests neither GPS location nor location permission for this feature and receives no navigation route. Apple may process the query, time, device properties, language, visible map area and technical network/performance data. Details: Apple Maps & Privacy.

10

Backups, history and support

A backup contains profiles, events, drafts, tasks and selected settings as a readable JSON file that JustDay does not additionally encrypt. It is handed only to your chosen destination. For restore, JustDay reads the file you select and creates a recovery backup before replacement.

The local activity history holds at most 40 important actions and is not sent automatically. “Send feedback” prepares a reviewable email with technical details such as app/iOS version, device model, active profile, item counts, and iCloud, Apple data and model status—without event or task titles. Only sending transfers visible content to GMX. See the GMX privacy notice.

11

Website and hosting

The site is delivered by Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA. Netlify processes technically necessary access data such as IP address, time, URL, referrer, browser/device information and status codes for delivery, security and troubleshooting.

The site loads no external fonts, analytics or advertising services and sets no cookies. The current version also stores no preference in local browser storage. A cleanup script may only remove legacy JustDay service workers, caches and old intro keys. External services such as the App Store or provider notices open only after a click. Details: Netlify Privacy Statement.

The legal basis for secure delivery is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Netlify may process data in the United States or elsewhere and identifies, depending on the case, the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses as transfer safeguards.

12

Recipients, legal bases and retention

Depending on your choices, data may be received by Apple, a configured calendar/reminders provider, a selected storage or mail service, Netlify and GMX. JustDay does not sell personal data or share it for advertising, tracking, data brokering or profiling.

Processing for app functions you request generally relies on Article 6(1)(b) GDPR; consent on (a), legal obligations on (c), and security or legal defense on (f). iOS permission prompts are additional technical access controls.

Local data remains until deletion, reset or uninstall. iCloud data, exported Apple entries, backup files and sent email are also managed by the respective service. Support data is deleted after resolution unless a duty or legal defense requires longer retention.

13

Your rights

Subject to legal conditions, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and object to processing; consent can be withdrawn for the future. Contact: justday.app@gmx.de. Much of the data can be edited, deleted or exported directly in JustDay.

There is a right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. At the controller’s place of establishment, this is in particular the Hamburg Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, Ludwig-Erhard-Straße 22, 20459 Hamburg, Germany.
